Jadore Joshy, alter ego of Windsor-based photographer Joshua Sanchez, took Amy LaBossiere’s portrait for this issue.

The duo hit it off immediately: The artists climbed into LaBossiere’s exhibit, I AM STILL HERE, a three-room tent filled with LaBossiere’s hand-painted messages of grief for her late husband, and bore their hearts.

“Amy created a safe space within that exhibit,” Joshy said. “We had a great conversation about transformation, rebirth, and grief.” That’s the power of art. 

Joshy’s work takes him to different CT towns, providing him with a unique view of what sets Hartford apart: Our pride. “I’m impressed by how proud people are to be from Hartford.” 

Joshy hopes everyone everywhere takes as much pride in their own self. If not, you could become a “copy and paste clone.” No one wants that.

“Find yourself. Listen to music, wear what you want, and be proud of your interests.” Yes, breaking from the crowd takes courage, but, Joshy insisted, “There will always be people who relate to you. I’ve found that to be true.”
